OTTAWA, Kan. — The Ottawa University men's basketball team dropped a 112-85 decision to Dordt University on Saturday afternoon inside Wilson Field House.
F
irst Half
Dordt came out firing, shooting an impressive 73.3 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes to build a 62-34 halftime lead.
Connor Millikan and Judson Henkel led the charge early, combining for 27 points before the break. The Defenders connected on 9-of-13 (69.2%) attempts from behind the arc in the opening half, while Ottawa struggled to find consistency on offense despite a balanced effort from its starters.
Micah Willis hit an early three-pointer and
Jackson Harding added six first-half points, but the Braves couldn't keep pace with Dordt's efficient shooting and ball movement, which resulted in 12 first-half assists.
Second Half
Ottawa regrouped after halftime, outscoring Dordt 51-50 in the second period. The Braves found more rhythm on the offensive end, shooting 54.1 percent and knocking down 64.3 percent (9-of-14) of their three-point attempts in the half.
Rich Martelly sparked the offense with 17 of his team-high 23 points coming after intermission.
Cameron Lawson and
Jackson Harding each scored 12 points, while
Micah Willis and
Landyn Tyler added 12 apiece.
