OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's basketball team fell 102-73 to Evangel University in Wilson Field House on Wednesday evening. The Braves battled throughout the night and had an excellent second quarter, but Evangel's efficiency in the paint and points off turnovers proved too much to overcome.
FIRST QUARTER
Evangel came out firing, shooting 10-for-17 in the period and using a 15–0 run to take control. Ottawa grabbed an early 2–0 lead at 9:35, but EU quickly responded with transition baskets and offensive rebounds.
Hailey Rademan and
Aaliyah Brown provided early looks for OU, but Evangel forced 10 first-quarter turnovers to build a 28–13 lead.
SECOND QUARTER
Ottawa responded impressively in the second, outscoring Evangel 25–23.
Aaliyah Brown sparked the surge, scoring three straight baskets—including an and-one at 9:06—to trim the deficit to 28–18. The Braves continued to attack inside, taking advantage of EU turnovers and knocking down free throws. OU generated momentum with defensive stops and transition plays, but Evangel closed the quarter with timely buckets to maintain a 51–38 lead at the half.
THIRD QUARTER
Ottawa cut into the lead early in the third when
McKinley Kruger knocked down two free throws at 5:33, followed by a
Molly Martin three to make it 37–29. However, Evangel countered with a steady offensive push, led by Heaven Shockley and Ali Kamies in the paint. EU's second-chance points and interior defense allowed them to rebuild a double-digit margin, taking a 76–59 advantage into the fourth.
FOURTH QUARTER
Evangel closed out the game with a 26-point fourth quarter. Shockley opened the period with a basket inside, and OU struggled to string together consecutive stops. Ottawa continued to compete—getting looks from Schutte, Brown, and Martin—but EU's transition scoring sealed the final margin.
