#15 Braves Face the Saint Mary Spires on Thursday in Leavenworth

OTTAWA, Kan. – The #15 Ottawa University women's wrestling team is headed to Leavenworth, Kansas to dual the Saint Mary Spires on Thursday.

The Braves last competed at the Saint Mary Spire Open. Shae Salinas and Jazmin Haller both placed in the 117lb weight class, Salinas had 4-1 record to place second and Haller won three matches to earn third. Emma Truex won the 131lb weight class after winning all four matches and Addison Saporito placed fourth in the 131lb and won three matches. In the 138lb weight class, Livia Swift earned second place with a record of 4-1 and Jordan Dempsey won two matches to place fourth. Leilani Caamal won the 145lb weight class by going 3-1 and Kaydence Bonewell secured fourth place by winning two matches. Abigail SebestaGiGi Jones and Haley Flores all placed in the 160lb weight class. Sebesta earned second, Jones earned third and Flores secured fourth. Kaylee Davis won the 180lb weight class by winning three matches. Siara Arrington and Ciera Hutton-Spieker also placed in the 180lb, Arrington was second and Hutton-Spieker was third. Kena Leonard placed first overall in the 207lb weight class, Leonard won both of her matches. Faith Spicer took home second place and Daija Anderson was third in the 207lb weight class.

Ottawa is ranked 15th in the latest NAIA Top 20 Poll. Aynsley Fink is 18th in the 110lb weight class. Peyton Hand is 15th in the 124lb weight division. Livia Swift comes in 18th in the 138lb weight division. Leilani Caamal is 20th in the 145lb weight class. Darby Weidl is sixth in the 160lb. Kaylee Davis is 17th in the 180lb. Hannah Jackson and Kena Leonard are ranked in the 207lb, Jackson is fifth and Leonard is 10th.

The Braves are 5-2-1 in program history against the Saint Mary Spires. The Braves are on a two-match win streak. In 2024, Erin Wetterstrom secured the first win of the night by winning by forfeit in the 101lb weight division. Macey Gross secured the win in the 123lb weight class on a forfeit. Aileen Lester secured a big win on a technical fall in the 136lb weight class over Allison King. Livia Swift won by forfeit in the 143lb weight class. Kaydence Bonewell took down Rebekah Koolstra by a fall in the 155lb weight division.

OU will have a quick turnaround as they will head to the Baker Jimmy May Open on Saturday in Baldwin City after dualing the Spires.
