Bowling to Start Postseason at KCAC Tournament

Ottawa, KAN. - The Ottawa bowling teams begin their postseason this weekend at the KCAC Tournament in Sioux City.
  • The Braves are coming off their regular season finale at the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis last weekend.
  • There, the men finished 45th with a 7,508 pinfall for five team games and fifteen baker games. Joseph Enderle led the way with a 1,028 total, bowling all five games and putting him in 74th.
  • The women finished 26th in the Hoosier Classic with a 7,493 pinfall. Gerilynn Delegarito led the Braves with a 990 total for five games, putting her in 51st individually.
  • This is the third edition of the KCAC Tournament, and the first hosted outside of the state of Kansas.
  • The men have finished in fourth place in both KCAC Tournaments.
  • The women finished in second in the first KCAC Tournament in 2023, and won the Tournament last season.
  • This is the biggest KCAC Tournament in both field size and magnitude: the winner of each tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship, which will be held from March 20-22 in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
  • The Ottawa men have qualified for the NAIA National Championship twice: as conference champions in 2020, and as an at-large selection in 2021.
  • The Ottawa women have qualified for the NAIA National Championship three times: as an at-large selection in 2021 and 2024, and as a conference champion in 2020.
  • The KCAC has added five members for bowling this year: Morningside, Hastings, and Midland for both men and women, and McPherson and Saint Mary (NE) for women only.
  • The tournament is bracket play only with double elimination. All matches will be a best of five game series except for the championship match, which will be best of seven.
  • The teams were seeded by their RPI throughout the season.
  • The men earned the second seed and will take on Saint Mary (KS) in the first round. Win or lose, they will match up against the team that does the same of the Midland/Morningside match.
  • The women snagged the top seed and await the winner of Saint Mary (KS) and Saint Mary (NE) in the second round.
  • In traditional matchplay, the Ottawa men are 1-2 on the season.
  • The Ottawa women are also 1-2 on the season in traditional matchplay.
  • This is the second time the Braves will compete at Plaza Bowl this season: they bowled in the Mustang Invitationals I & II on December 7 and 8.
  • In those tournaments, the men finished second and fifth, respectively. Matthew Berg and Joseph Enderle made the All-Tournament Team on Saturday in third and fourth place.
  • The women finished second in both tournaments. Jadyn Barr made the All-Tournament Team on Saturday in third place.
  • All matches will be streamed on the Ottawa University Bowling Teams Facebook page, with the exception of the semifinals and championship, which will be on the KCAC Network.
