SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – The Ottawa University softball team was defeated by Dakota Wesleyan University on Sunday afternoon at the ASB Dome. The Braves fell 1-0 in game one and 8-6 in game two.
Game One
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead over the Braves in the bottom of the first inning. DWU scored on a Brave miscue to take the lead. The Braves were unable to rally and DWU took the 1-0 victory.

DWU took a 1-0 lead over the Braves in the top of the first inning. Ottawa answered with a run in the bottom of the first.
Kara Hafenstine tripled to right.
Addison Spencer's bunt single scored Hafenstine and the game was tied 1-1.
In the bottom of the second, Ottawa took its first lead of the game. Alex Genty reached first on an error by the DWU pitcher.
Megan Kennedy moved Genty to second with a ground out to first. Genty scored on a double by
Macy Roever, giving OU a 2-1 lead.
The Tigers tied the game with a run in the top of the third, 2-2. DWU then retook the lead, scoring two runs in the fourth and two in the fifth to take a 6-2 lead.
Ottawa cut into the DWU lead with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Hafenstine hit her second triple of the game. Spencer scored her with a double and the Braves were down 6-3.
Katie Enneking followed that with a triple to right, scoring Spencer to put OU within 6-4. Zoe Butt's scored Enneking with a sacrifice fly to center and OU was down 6-5.
DWU was able to push two runs across home plate to increase their lead over the Braves in the top of the seventh to take an 8-5 lead.
OU tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh. With two outs, Butts doubled to right center and
Mallory Dunn entered the game as a pinch runner for Butts.
Emma Melvin's double scored Dunn and OU was down 8-6. The Braves, however, were not able to complete the two out rally and DWU took the 8-6 victory.

Ottawa (6-6) is back on the road at the Friends Invitational, Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2. The Braves open the tournament in Wichita on Saturday, March 1 at 1:20 p.m. against Dakota State University.
