WICHITA, Kan. – The Ottawa University softball team went 1-1 on the final day of the Friends Invitational on Sunday. Ottawa defeated Midland University 4-1 but fell 6-2 to Peru State College.
Midland University W, 4-1
Midland struck first, taking a 1-0 lead over the Braves in the bottom of the second inning. Neither team was able to score in the third and fourth innings. Ottawa was able to push two runs across home plate in the fifth.
Mallory Dunn doubled to center.
Macy Roever scored Dunn with a double to left and the game was tied 1-1. The Braves took their first lead of the game with a double by
Kara Hafenstine. Her hit scored Roever and OU led 2-1.
Ottawa extended its lead in the top of the seventh.
Megan Kennedy hit a home run to center, giving the Braves a 3-1 lead. With the bases loaded,
Addison Spencer put the ball in play, scoring Davanie Medina from third and Ottawa had a 4-1 lead.
The Warriors tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh, loading the bases. The Braves did not allow them to score and OU took the 4-1 victory.

- Megan Kennedy was 2-for-3 at the plate, hitting a home run.
- Lanie Becker earned the win, striking out three in seven innings.
Peru State College L, 6-2
Ottawa took the lead in the third inning.
Macy Roever reached first with a bunt single.
Kara Hafenstine's sacrifice bunt moved Roever to second.
Addison Spencer advanced Roever to third with a single up the middle. Alex Genty scored Roever with a single to left and OU had a 1-0 lead.
Peru State tied the game with a run in the bottom of the third inning. Ottawa answered with a run in the top of the fourth. Hafenstine singled, scoring
Megan Kennedy and the Braves had a 2-1 lead.
The Bobcats rallied in the the fifth, taking a 4-2 lead over the Braves. In the bottom of the sixth, PSC increased its lead to 6-2.
In the top of the seventh, OU had two reach base but were unable to score them as Peru State took the 6-2 victory.
