DES MOINES, Iowa – The Ottawa University men's volleyball team fell 3-1; 17-25, 25-21, 14-25, 24-26; to no. 4 Grand View University on Tuesday evening.
How it Happened
- Grand View took an early 7-2 lead over Ottawa in set one. The Braves chipped away at the Viking lead, cutting it to four points, 13-9. OU was not able to recover from its slow start and Grand View took the 25-17 victory.
- Trailing 8-7 to GVU in set two, Ottawa went on a 7-0 run to take a 14-8 lead over the Vikings. A kill by Marko Zolnjan and a block by Akeil Williams and Petar Lazic gave OU a 21-16 lead. Grand View cut OU's lead to 23-21 Ottawa was able to close out the set by scoring the next two points, ending the set on a Macort Pickup service ace, 25-21.
- The Vikings took a 9-4 lead over the Braves in set three. Ottawa was unable to rally and Grand View took the 25-14 victory.
- Ottawa led set four 15-10 after two straight kills by Marko Zolnjan. GVU rallied and cut OU's lead to 22-20. Ottawa answered with two straight points, a kill by Williams and a Zolnjan service ace, to take a 24-20 lead. Grand View responded by scoring the final six points of the set, taking the 26-24 victory.
