Men's Volleyball Ends Season With Loss to (8) Grand View

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Ottawa University men's volleyball team's season ended in the Heart Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday night with a 3-1 loss to Grand View University.

How it Happened
  • Ottawa fell behind 15-8 to Grand View in set one. OU chipped away at the deficit and after a Petar Lazic kill, the Braves were within 15-13. Ottawa stayed close and trailed 21-20 after a block by Kadeem Morris and Lazic. That is all the closer the Braves were able to get. GVU ended the set on a 4-1 run, taking the 25-21 victory.
  • Grand View opened set two with a 12-4 lead over the Braves. Ottawa rallied and cut the GVU lead to 21-16. Ottawa was unable to complete the comeback and the Vikings took the 25-18 victory.
  • It was Ottawa taking the early lead in set three. A block by Akeil Williams gave OU a 4-2 advantage. The Braves had a 15-12 lead over Grand View when the Vikings scored four straight points to take a 16-15 lead. Two Viking miscues, however, gave the Braves a 17-16 lead. Ottawa responded with a 5-2 run, taking a 22-18 lead on a kill by Leo Betin. GVU tried to rally and cut OU's lead to 24-23. The Braves did not allow the Vikings to complete the comeback. A kill by Williams closed out the set for the Braves and OU took the 25-23 victory.
  • With Grand View leading 14-13, the Vikings scored five straight points to take a 19-13 lead. Ottawa was not able to answer, and Grand View won the match, 25-16.
