RIVERSIDE, Mo. – The Ottawa University women's flag football team is playing in its fifth straight NAIA Women's Flag Football Finals Championship Game with a 19-13 double overtime victory over Thomas University on Wednesday afternoon.
Thomas scored first, taking a 7-0 lead over the Braves are the start of the second quarter. Ottawa tried to answer on its next offensive possession, moving the ball to the Thomas seven yard line. The Braves were unable to score and Thomas led 7-0 at the half.
That is where the score stayed until the final minutes of the fourth quarter when Ottawa tied the game on its last offensive of regulation. The Braves put together an 11 play scoring drive that ended in a
Madysen Carrera touchdown pass to
Addison Orsborn. The Carrera extra point attempt was good and the game went into overtime.
Thomas received the ball to start the first overtime period, scoring its first play of the drive. The extra point was no good and TU had a 13-7 lead. The Braves answered with a two play scoring drive to tie the game. Orsborn scored from four yards out. The extra point attempt was no good and the game was tied at 13 all.
The Braves had the ball to start the second overtime period. Ottawa took the lead on a Carrera touchdown pass to
Alyssa Linkous. The extra point attempt was no good and OU led 19-13.
Thomas moved the ball to the OU one yard line on its possession in the second overtime period. On fourth and one, TU quarterback Alexa Wilson pass was long and the Braves took the 19-13 victory.
