Women's Soccer Heads to Baker

OTTAWA, Kan. - The Ottawa women's soccer team goes on the road for the first time as they travel to Baker for their second non-conference game of the season.
  • The Braves are coming off a 1-5 loss at home to (RV) Mid-America Christian on Thursday.
  • In that game, Samantha Pruett scored her first collegiate goal, and Makena Tapia made her collegiate debut in goal in the second half.
  • Baker comes into this contest searching for their first win, sitting at 0-2-0 on the season.
  • The Wildcats have 3-1 and 3-2 losses to future OU opponent Avila and recent  OU opponent (RV) Mid-America Christian, respectively, both at home.
  • This will be the fourteenth meeting between Ottawa and Baker, with Baker leading the series 10-1-2.
  • Baker won last year's contest in Ottawa by a score of 1-0, starting a new winning streak for the Wildcats.
  • This season marks a new era for both programs, as James Cottage and Sean McAlister are in their first seasons coaching Ottawa and Baker.
  • Ottawa is searching for their first non-conference win since August 25, 2021, when they beat Stephens, 4-3.
  • The Braves are searching for their first road non-conference win since their 2020 season opener when they once again beat Stephens in Columbia, 4-1.
  • This will be the shortest road trip of Ottawa's season, with just 17 miles separating Ottawa and Baker via US Highway 59. This proximity has bred a rivalry between the two schools, which can be seen in many sports.
