OMAHA, Neb. – The Ottawa University women's volleyball team dropped a three-set match to The Master's University on Saturday afternoon inside the Lied Fitness Center. The Mustangs claimed the sweep by scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-13.
The Braves struggled to find consistency offensively, finishing with a .131 team hitting percentage.
Campbell Stark led the attack with six kills, while
Bailee Nickel and
Hollie Peters each added five and four, respectively.
Lillian Holden provided a spark with four kills on a .500 hitting clip. Setter
Makela Martinez paced the offense with 12 assists, and
Madison Brauner chipped in nine.
Defensively,
Carson Schuman anchored the back row with 10 digs, while Martinez and Brauner each collected eight. At the net, Ottawa finished with six blocks, highlighted by Holden's three block assists and one solo block, and
Anja Kukic and
Alexia Maynes combining for key stops.
The Master's, ranked among the NAIA's early-season leaders, hit .288 as a team and closed the match with a dominant third set, swinging at a .514 clip. Kinsley Kollman (13 kills), Macy Gebhards (10 kills), and McKenna Brady (9 kills) led the Mustang offense.
Ottawa (0-5) returns to the court in its final game of the classic in Omaha, tonight, against Oklahoma Panhandle State University. The match is scheduled to begin at 5pm.
