OTTAWA, Kan. - The Ottawa women's soccer team earned their first KCAC victory of 2025 as they defeated Bethel College by a score of 3-1 on Saturday evening at AdventHealth Field.
Ottawa did not waste time scoring, as
Cennet Oruc found the back of the net off a cross from
Melissa Grohmann in the sixth minute. The Braves struck again after
Peyton Hack connected with a long through ball by
Kyndel Adams in the 23rd minute. At halftime, Ottawa led 2-0. Bethel halved the home lead in the 73rd minute as Ottawa let in an own goal, but the lead was quickly put back in its place in the 76th minute as
Riley Smith headed a ball in from
Lily Martin.
Ottawa took eleven total shots and eight shots on goal, while Bethel took four total shots, all four on goal.
Makena Tapia made three saves in goal for Ottawa.
Ottawa (2-3-1, 1-1-0 KCAC) returns to the field on Wednesday, September 24 as they host (10) Oklahoma Wesleyan University at AdventHealth Field. That game is scheduled to kick off at 5:00 PM.
