Women's Basketball Travels North to York on Friday

The Braves are 11-8 overall, 6-7 in the KCAC, have a record of 4-5 on the road and are on a one game winning streak. Ottawa defeated the University of Saint Mary 76-71 on Wednesday night in Wilson Field House. 

This season Ottawa is averaging 74.9 points, 40.4 rebounds, and 15.2 assists per game. OU is shooting 40.5 percent from the floor, 31.3 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 72.1 percent from the free throw line. 

McKinley Kruger leads OU in scoring (11.8), assists (2.4), and steals (29) per game. Aaliyah Brown is Ottawa's leader in rebounds (7.2) and Ashlynn Arnsman leads the team in blocks (0.6) per game. 

In 13 KCAC games this season Ottawa is averaging 72.3 points per game and shooting 40.5 percent from the floor, 31.7 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 74.8 percent from the free throw line. KCAC opponents are scoring 71.7 points per game and shooting 43.5 percent from the floor, 34.7 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 70.3 percent from the free throw line. 

Ottawa is ranked 37th in the NAIA in points (1,424), 46th in points per game (74.9), 31st in field goals attempted per game (67.1), 16th in 3-pt field goals made per game (8.9), 16th in 3-pt field goals attempted per game (28.6), 44th in offensive rebounds per game (14.4), 41st in opponent offensive rebounds per game (9.7), 21st in turnovers per game (13.5), 22nd in opponent steals per game (6.8), and 33rd in offensive efficiency (1.008).

The Braves continue to put points on the scoreboard, averaging 74.9 points per game. That total ranks Ottawa third in the school record book and 46th in the NAIA. Its the most points averaged by the Braves since 1992-93 when OU scored 77.1 points per game. The school record is 81.5 points per game, set by the 1993-94 team. 

Ottawa's 170 made 3-pt field goals are just 23 off from last year's total of 193 which is fifth in the OU record book. The school record is 249 set by the 2006-07 team. 

Friday's game between Ottawa University and York University is the 18th game between the two teams. The Braves are 16-1 against the Panthers and are on a 16 game winning streak against York. OU won the one meeting last season, 79-62 in Wilson Field House on Jan. 25, 2025. Ottawa has never lost in the Freeman Center and has a record of 7-0 against York on the road. The first ever game between the two teams was on Nov. 9, 2001 in Wilson Field House. York won the game 85-62. 

York University has an overall record of 6-14 and a KCAC mark of 1-12. The Panthers are on a five game losing streak and have mark of 5-7 in the Freeman Center this season. YU's last win was on Jan. 3 at home against Southwestern College. The Panthers won the game 81-65. York enters Friday's game coming off a 78-66 road loss to Avila University on Wednesday. 

The Panthers are averaging 66.5 points, 39.6 rebounds, and 12.7 assists per game. YU is shooting 37.3 percent from the floor, 27.3 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 62.1 percent from the free throw line. 

Destiny Shepherd leads the Panthers in scoring (17.3) and assists (2.4) per game. Alliyana Page is YU's leader in rebounding (5.9) and Monique Contreras leads the team in blocks (0.5) and steals (2.1) per game. 

In the Freeman Center, York is scoring 70.5 points per game. YU is shooting 38.5 percent from the floor, 28.3 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 60.2 percent from the free throw line.
