#13 Braves Will Dual Avila on Thursday and Head to the Spire Open on Friday

OTTAWA, Kan. – The #13 Ottawa women's wrestling team will dual Avila on Thursday in Kansas City and head to the Spire Open on Friday.

The Braves competed at the William Penn Open on January 18th, Daityn Webb placed fifth overall in the 110lb weight division, Webb won two matches on the day. Peyton Hand secured second place by winning two matches (by fall and technical fall) in the 124lb weight class. Madison Rich placed fifth overall in the 124lb weight class, Rich also won two matches. Justice Thomas finished in sixth place in the 160lb weight division. KyLee Lindsley won the 180lb weight division, she went 4-0 at the Open including a fall victory in the championship over Rihanna Venegas (Grand View). Ciera Hutton-Spieker placed fifth in the 180lb weight division, Hutton-Spieker went 3-2 in her matches. Kena Leonard earned third place and Faith Spicer placed fourth in the 207lb weight class, Leonard won three matches and Spicer won two.

Ottawa is 13th in the latest NAIA poll. Aynsley Fink is sixth in the 103lb weight division. Sigrun Metzger and Addison Saporito are ranked in the 117lb weight class, Metzger is 17th and Saporito is 20thPeyton Hand is 20th in the 124lb weight division. In the 138lb weight class, Aileen Lester is 15thKaitlyn Thorn is 19th in the 145lb weight class. Darby Weidl moves back into the rankings in the 160lb weight division and is ranked eighth. Ciera Hutton-Spieker is eighth and Siara Arrington is 12th in the 180lb weight division. Kena Leonard is 19th in the 207lb weight class.

Ottawa defeated Avila, 33-14 in 2025. Ottawa is 4-3 all time vs. Avila. In 2025, Aynsley Fink started with a fall victory over Ruby Scarborough in the 110lb weight class. Shae Salinas followed with a pin on Rihanna Ricks in the 117lb weight class. In the 124lb weight division, Peyton Hand won a 14-4 major decision over Markayla Lottie. Kaydence Bonewell won a 9-0 decision over Byanca Cook in the 145lb weight class. Darby WeidlCiera Hutton-Spieker and Hannah Jackson all won by forfeit in their respective weight divisions.

At the Spire Open in 2025, 17 Braves placed in the top four at the Open in Leavenworth.
