OTTAWA, Kan. — Ottawa University fell 80-49 to (5) Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Wednesday night in Wilson Field House.
First Half – Early Pressure Sets the Tone
Oklahoma Wesleyan wasted little time establishing control. After Ottawa briefly tied the game at 18-18 midway through the half, the Eagles answered with a decisive run fueled by transition buckets and second-chance opportunities.
Back-to-back steals and fast-break finishes helped stretch the lead to double digits, and a late 14-2 push closed the half with OKWU in front 42-27.
The Eagles shot a blistering 54.8% (17-of-31) in the opening 20 minutes while holding Ottawa to 34.4% (11-of-32). Oklahoma Wesleyan also forced eight first-half turnovers and scored repeatedly in the paint to seize momentum.
Second Half – Eagles Pull Away
Any hopes of a Braves comeback were quickly extinguished. After Ottawa trimmed the margin to 12 in the opening minute of the second half, Oklahoma Wesleyan responded with a 15-3 surge highlighted by a Humberto Kentish three-pointer and multiple paint finishes.
The Eagles pushed the advantage past 20 midway through the half and continued to capitalize on turnovers and second-chance points. A late 8-0 burst stretched the lead to a game-high 31 points before the final horn.
