Men's Bowling Finishes Fifth at NAIA West Open

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Ottawa men's bowling team produced a pair of top three finishes at the NAIA West Open tournaments.

The Braves posted a 4,992 total for five team games on Saturday, putting them in third place on the day. Zach Kunkle made the All-Tournament team in fourth place with a five game total of 1,071.

On Sunday, Ottawa finished second with a 4,893 pinfall for 25 baker games.

The Braves finished fifth across the weekend with a 6-4 match record.

Coach Maida's Thoughts
"This weekend was the first tournament back since December, it was great to be back out on the lanes with the team. Saturday the boys came out of the gate red hot but fell off a bit as the day went on and ended with a third place finish. We came into Sunday with good idea of what we wanted to do and needed to do. We avoided a lot of the splits that we saw on Saturday but made a few too many mistakes throughout the day to give us a second place finish on the day. This past weekend should have us in a good spot heading into the conference tournament in 2 weeks at Gage Bowl in Topeka."

Coach Poston's Thoughts
"We need to create momentum this week and carry it into the biggest tournament of the year, Conference!"
