OTTAWA, Kan. — The Ottawa University men's basketball team fell 73-72 to Kansas Wesleyan University in Wilson Field House on Saturday afternoon.
First Half
Ottawa dictated pace and energy from the opening tip, building a 9-4 lead in the first three minutes and never trailing in the half.
Elijah Mason got the Braves on the board early, and a transition finish from
Rich Martelly pushed the advantage to 4-0.

Midway through the half, the Braves found their rhythm from deep and at the line:
- Micah Willis buried back-to-back three-pointers.
- Jackson Harding drilled a triple to stretch the lead.
- Ottawa went 15-of-16 from the free-throw line in the half.
A
Jackson Esary bucket at the 5:09 mark gave Ottawa its largest lead at 37-23 — a 14-point advantage that energized the home bench.
Despite a few late turnovers, Ottawa took a 46-36 lead into halftime behind efficient shooting and strong interior defense.
