OTTAWA, Kan. - The Ottawa University softball team delivered late-game drama in the opener and battled to the final out in game two, earning a split against (RV) Benedictine College on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Park.

Ottawa scratched across the first run of the day without recording a hit.
In the bottom of the first,
Cece Mora reached on an error and came around to score when
Emma Melvin put the ball in play and forced another defensive miscue. Ottawa led 1-0 despite Benedictine not allowing a hit in the frame.
The Ravens briefly flipped momentum in the sixth. A solo home run tied the game, and a two-out RBI double gave Benedictine a 2-1 lead.
But Ottawa didn't blink.
In the bottom of the sixth,
Abby Bellamy sparked things with a single. Mora pressured the defense again, and Melvin delivered in the clutch with an RBI single to left to tie the game at 2-2.
Then came the seventh.
Devanie Medina roped a single to right-center, bringing the winning run aboard. With two outs,
Camryn Lenz crushed a triple to right field, plating Medina and sending the Braves pouring out of the dugout for the 3-2 walk-off victory.

Game 2: Benedictine 5, Ottawa 2
Game two featured traffic on the bases all afternoon, but Ottawa couldn't quite generate the big inning.
Benedictine struck first with a three-run third, using gap power and timely singles to take control.
Ottawa answered in the fourth when Alex Genty delivered an RBI single to score
Brookelynn Becker, trimming the deficit to 3-1.
The Braves continued to chip away.
In the seventh, Bellamy worked a walk and Mora came through with a double down the left-field line to score her and make it 5-2. Ottawa brought the tying run to the plate, but the rally ended just short.
