Box Score LAMONI, Iowa - The offense and defense for (1) Ottawa University were in sync on Saturday afternoon as the Braves rolled to a 33-0 victory over (RV) Graceland University in women's flag football action.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Braves erupted for 14 points in the final minute of the second quarter to seize control of the game. Ottawa continued to apply pressure in the second half, adding two more touchdowns in the third quarter and another in the fourth to secure the convincing win.
Quarterback
Anna Anderson led the offensive attack, accounting for five total touchdowns while directing an Ottawa offense that piled up 335 yards of total offense. The Braves defense matched the effort, consistently pushing Graceland backward and forcing a turnover while holding the Yellowjackets to just 172 yards and no points.
Ottawa broke through late in the second quarter when Anderson capped a short drive with a rushing touchdown before connecting on the conversion pass for a 6-0 lead. Moments later, a Graceland turnover set up another scoring opportunity, and Anderson found
Jaida Bayron for a touchdown with five seconds remaining in the half to make it 13-0.
The Braves continued their momentum in the third quarter. Anderson scored on a four-yard run midway through the period, and later in the quarter she connected with
Alyssa Linkous on a 35-yard touchdown pass to extend Ottawa's advantage to 27-0. Ottawa added its final score in the fourth quarter with a 75-yard drive to close out the 33-0 victory.
Defensively, Ottawa dominated throughout the game, forcing negative plays and shutting down Graceland drives before they could develop.
