(RV) Softball Explodes Early, Complete Sweep of Southwestern

WINFIELD, Kan. - Ottawa University delivered a dominant offensive showing in game one and followed it up with a late surge in game two, completing a doubleheader sweep of Southwestern at Broadway Sports Complex.

Game 1: Ottawa 14, Southwestern 1
Ottawa wasted no time setting the tone, scoring in each of the first four innings, including a massive eight-run third inning that broke the game wide open. The Braves piled up 18 hits and showcased production up and down the lineup in a run-rule shortened victory.

Cece Mora led the charge with a perfect day at the plate, while Brookelynn Becker powered the offense with four RBI. Emma Melvin and Alex Genty added multi-hit, multi-RBI performances as Ottawa overwhelmed Southwestern pitching.

In the circle, Lanie Becker and Sara Smith combined to limit Southwestern to just four hits and one unearned run over five innings.

Game 2: Ottawa 8, Southwestern 3
After a slower start offensively, Ottawa broke through late, scoring seven runs over the final two innings—including a five-run seventh—to secure the sweep.

Camryn Lenz delivered the biggest swing of the game with three RBI, while Emma Melvin continued her strong day with three hits and two RBI. The Braves again showed depth, collecting 15 hits in the nightcap.
