OTTAWA, Kan. – Ottawa University used a dominant second half and a monster performance from
Antonio Bell to pull away from Missouri Valley, 11-4, on Wednesday evening at AdventHealth Field.
After falling behind early, the Braves flipped the script with a relentless offensive attack and suffocating defense, outscoring Missouri Valley 11-2 over the final three quarters. Ottawa controlled possession, won key face-offs, and overwhelmed the Vikings with a 65-28 shot advantage.
How It Happened
Missouri Valley struck first with two quick goals midway through the opening quarter, taking a 2-0 lead. Ottawa generated opportunities early but couldn't break through in the first period despite multiple shots on goal.
The Braves found their rhythm in the second quarter. A man-up goal from
Rylin Huber got Ottawa on the board before
Antonio Bell evened the score moments later.
Cameron Brown gave Ottawa its first lead of the night with just under six minutes left in the half, sending the Braves into halftime up 3-2.
Ottawa took complete control in the third quarter. Bell scored three straight goals during a dominant stretch, pushing the lead to 6-2 as the Braves dictated tempo and possession.
The fourth quarter was more of the same. Ottawa added five more goals, including another pair from Bell, while the defense held Missouri Valley in check. Late goals from
Cameron Brown and
Riley Daniel sealed the 11-4 victory.
