Box Score OTTAWA, Kan. – (2) Ottawa University put together a complete performance on both sides of the ball on Friday morning, shutting out Hesston College, 54-0, at AdventHealth Field.
First Quarter
The Braves wasted little time getting on the board. After an early defensive stand,
Anna Anderson connected with
Olga Sotillo for a 61-yard touchdown pass to give OU a 7-0 lead. Just minutes later, Anderson found
Marley Spielberg for a 7-yard score, extending the advantage to 14-0.
Defensively, Ottawa set the tone early, recording sacks and forcing an interception to keep Hesston off the scoreboard.
Second Quarter
Ottawa continued its offensive surge in the second quarter. Anderson threw touchdown passes to
Alyssa Linkous (47 yards) and
Tatiana DosSantos (27 yards), pushing the lead to 28-0 heading into halftime.
The Braves defense came up with another key takeaway, as
Jukanie Washington intercepted a pass deep in Ottawa territory to stop a Hesston scoring threat.
Third Quarter
The Braves picked up right where they left off after the break. Anderson connected again with DosSantos for a 13-yard touchdown, extending the lead to 35-0.
Ottawa's defense continued to dominate, applying pressure and limiting Hesston's offensive production throughout the quarter.
Fourth Quarter
Ottawa sealed the game with a big fourth quarter, scoring three more touchdowns. Anderson found
Jaida Bayron for a 4-yard score, and later
Marley Spielberg tossed a touchdown pass to Bayron.
The Braves closed out the scoring when
Kailey Verhoeven connected with Spielberg for an 18-yard touchdown, securing the 54-0 shutout victory.
