OTTAWA, Kan. – (2) Ottawa University delivered a clutch performance down the stretch, scoring the go-ahead touchdown in the final minutes to defeat Baker University, 26-20, on Saturday afternoon at AdventHealth Field.
How It Happened
Ottawa struck first midway through the opening quarter as
Anna Anderson connected with
Olga Sotillo for an 8-yard touchdown pass, capping a 66-yard drive to give the Braves a 7-0 lead.
The Braves extended their advantage in the second quarter when Anderson found
Alyssa Linkous for a 12-yard score, pushing the lead to 14-0. Baker responded late in the half with a rushing touchdown to cut the deficit to 14-6 heading into halftime.
Baker continued to rally in the third quarter, adding another touchdown to make it a 14-12 game and setting up a dramatic final period.
In the fourth, Ottawa regained momentum. Anderson threw her third touchdown of the game, this time to
Tatiana Dos Santos, giving OU a 20-12 lead. Baker answered with a touchdown and conversion to tie the game at 20-20 with just over six minutes remaining.
With the game on the line, the Braves orchestrated a clutch 10-play, 66-yard drive. Anderson once again delivered, hitting Sotillo for a 14-yard touchdown with 1:05 left to seal the 26-20 victory.
Ottawa's defense held firm in the final minute, forcing an incompletion on Baker's last drive to secure the win.
