Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Falls to Missouri Baptist in the Heart Semifinals, 19-7

ATCHISON, Kan. – Ottawa University showed resilience and flashes of offensive firepower, but a strong first-half surge by Missouri Baptist proved too much to overcome as the Braves fell 19-7 on Thursday morning.

First Quarter
Ottawa came out with energy and answered Missouri Baptist's opening goal with a score from Rilee Barnett off an assist from Makayla Mason to tie the game at 1-1. The Braves continued to compete early, with Barnett adding two more goals in the period—including a free-position score and a man-up goal.

However, Missouri Baptist capitalized on draw controls and offensive momentum late in the quarter, closing on a 6-0 run to take a 10-3 lead after one.

Second Quarter
The second quarter was a defensive battle early, but Missouri Baptist gradually extended its lead. Ottawa continued to fight for possessions and created opportunities, but couldn't find the back of the net in the period.

The Braves' defense worked to slow the pace at times, but Missouri Baptist pushed its advantage to 14-3 heading into halftime.

Third Quarter
Ottawa kept competing in the third, highlighted by another Barnett free-position goal. The Braves generated solid looks offensively and picked up key ground balls, but Missouri Baptist maintained control and stretched the lead to 18-4 by the end of the quarter.

Fourth Quarter
The Braves showed their grit in the final frame, outscoring Missouri Baptist 3-1. Makayla Mason opened the quarter with a goal off a Curstin Brown assist, and Barnett added two more, including the final goal of the game.
