OTTAWA, Kan. – (RV) Ottawa made quick work of Avila on Saturday afternoon inside Wilson Field House, delivering a commanding straight-set victory (25-16, 25-14, 25-12) and controlling the match from start to finish.
From the opening serve, the Braves set the tone with an aggressive and efficient attack, hitting .337 as a team while holding Avila to just .074.
Set 1 – Ottawa Sets the Tone Early (25-16)
Ottawa came out firing, jumping to a quick 5-0 lead behind strong serving and early blocks from
Macort Pickup and
Isaac Rollenhagen. The Braves extended the lead to 12-3 thanks to a service ace and multiple kills from
Kadeem Morris and
Leo Betin.
Avila attempted to close the gap midway through the set, trimming the deficit to 12-18, but Ottawa responded with another surge. Rollenhagen and Morris powered the late run, combining for multiple kills as the Braves closed the set on a 7-4 stretch to take a 1-0 lead.
Set 2 – Braves Pull Away Late (25-14)
The second set started tighter, with Avila briefly taking a 12-11 lead. Ottawa quickly flipped the momentum.
A key turning point came with
Isaac Rollenhagen at the service line. The Braves ripped off a massive run, fueled by three service aces from Rollenhagen and strong net play from Morris and
Quentin Le Dortz. Ottawa closed the set on a dominant 14-2 run to take full control of the match.
Set 3 – Complete Control to Finish the Sweep (25-12)
Ottawa left no doubt in the third set. After a quick 6-1 start highlighted by back-to-back service aces from
Macort Pickup, the Braves never looked back.
Balanced offense and strong defensive pressure kept Avila out of rhythm. Late in the set, Ottawa continued to pile on with kills from Betin and Rollenhagen, while the block anchored by
Andrew Ely shut down Avila's attack.
The Braves cruised to a 25-12 win to secure the sweep.
