KANSAS - After securing a 1-0 upset win over no. 3 MidAmerica Nazarene on Thursday night with five saves, Alex Neri was named the KCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for Week 1. The accolade, announced by the league office today and presented by Athletic Solutions, is the first for Neri and reflects performances from Aug. 24-30 among voting of conference sports information directors.

The senior transfer from Wayland Baptist started the first two matches of the year for Ottawa and has posted a 1.50 goals-against average on the year. He picked up five saves and was a controlling presence in the defense for the Braves, sustaining the Black and Gold shutout.

Joining Neri in earning Week 1 accolades is Cristobal Schenfeld of Kansas Wesleyan University.
