OTTAWA, Kan. - Three-time KSHSAA Class 5A State Championship qualifier Avery Lovegren has signed a letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic career at Ottawa University, head coach
Geoff Poston announced today. The DeSoto High School senior is a two-time KSHSAA Class 5A First Team All-State honoree as well as a two-time top-five finisher in the KSHSAA Class 5A State Championship, earning fourth in 2026 and runner-up in 2025.
Lovegren also earned the 2026 United Kansas Conference individual championship with a three-game series of 641 and followed that title up with a Class 5A Regional Championship behind a 621 series. She also competed in the 2026 USBC Junior Gold U18 Qualifiers, finishing 79th in a field of 363 bowlers, missing the cut line by 4.81 pins/gm.
The daughter of Lori and Bryan Lovegren, the Lenexa, Kan., native also wrestled and played softball for the Wildcats. She intends to major in Exercise Science and Biology.
