Coach Woods is in his first season as a graduate student assistant with the Ottawa University men’s basketball program.
Woods is no stranger to the Braves, having played for Ottawa during the 2023-24 season and previously serving as a student intern assistant with the program. As an intern, he helped organize and conduct film study sessions, managed travel gear and equipment, maintained bookkeeping and inventory records, and assisted with practice plans and team logistics.
Woods brings coaching and player-development experience to the OU staff. He has served as an assistant coach at the AAU level, working with young athletes on skill development, team building, fundamentals, strategic play and mental toughness. He helped guide his team to a championship during his time with the program.
He has also worked as a basketball instructor, leading drills and training sessions, mentoring campers and teaching game strategy, leadership and sportsmanship. Woods previously served as a basketball skills camp coordinator, where he led on-court drills, coached campers and spoke to campers and parents.
As a student-athlete, Woods was a team captain for the Braves during the 2023-24 season and shot 45 percent from 3-point range. His playing accomplishments also include an all-state selection and Offensive MVP honors in 2019, Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2021 and reaching the 1,000-point milestone during his collegiate career.
A native of Texarkana, Texas, Woods earned his bachelor’s degree from Ottawa University in 2024. He previously earned an associate degree from the University of Arkansas Cossatot in 2022.
