Coach Jon DeSha is in his first season as head coach of the OU men's soccer program.
Prior to coming to OU, DeSha served five seasons as the assistant head coach for men’s soccer at Columbia College (Mo.), where he also helped launch the women’s soccer program in 2012. In his tenure with the Cougar men’s soccer team, DeSha helped the program amass 57 wins and a .744 winning percentage between 2009-2012, making those seasons among the most successful in Columbia College soccer history, including three National Tournament appearances (2009, 2010, 2012). Last year, the Cougars advanced to the second round of the NAIA National tournament, finished 14-2-6 and were ranked #12 in the NAIA postseason polls.
DeSha contributed to the success and recognition of eight All-American Scholar Athletes, four All-American Honorable mentions, 13 AMC 1st Team All-Conference players, four AMC Conference Newcomers of the Year, and two AMC Freshmen of the Year.
Before working at Columbia College, DeSha spent two seasons as the graduate assistant coach at William Woods University (Fulton, Mo.), which followed a two year stint as the assistant coach for the Jefferson City (Mo.) High School women's soccer program. Prior to that, DeSha was the assistant women's soccer coach at Westminster College (Fulton, Mo.).
DeSha earned a B.S. in Physical Education from William Woods University and a Master’s in Sports Management from Missouri Baptist University (Saint Louis, Mo.).
DeSha and his wife, JoAnn, of 28 years reside in Ottawa, Kan. They have three children (Brandi, Anthony and Lauren) and three grandchildren (Ava, Ellie and Emerson).
