Ryan Baylark

Coach Baylark is in his second season as head coach for the OU powerlifting program.

In his first season at the helm of the OU powerlifting program, Baylark had nine Braves compete at the USA Powerlifting National Collegiate. Two came home with All-American honors, John Wyatt and Baxter Self. Baylark was also selected to be part of the staff at the IPF World Classic & Equipped Sub Junior and Junior Powerlifting Championships in Cluj Napoca, Romania. 

Baylark is the owner of Sheep Dawg Strength Training. He trains men, women, and youth across all weight classes and age ranges both online and in person. Baylark is a referee and meet director for USAPL State and Powerlifting America.
 
Baylark is a three-time silver medalist at USAPL Bench Nationals at 83KG and 93KG. He was a 2017 bronze medalist at USAPL Raw Nationals at 83KG and is a three-time American bench record holder at 83KG. He has also coached athletes to Special Olympics Nationals.
 
Baylark earned a 2022 USAPL Pro Card. He is a 10-time Kansas State Record holder at 181, 198, and 205. He has the highest all-time Dots Score for the state of Kansas, has the highest 2022 Dots Score for the state of Kansas, and has coached various athletes to state records in several weight classes.
 
Currently, Baylark is ranked no. 1 in his weight class and is competing at nationals and working on qualifying for worlds in South Africa.

From 2012 to 2018, Baylark was a police officer in Mission, Kan., and Shawnee, Kan. In 2019, he became a claims adjuster and is a special investigator with Travelers Insurance.
 
Baylark graduated from the University of Central Missouri (UCM) in 2012 with a bachelor’s of science in criminal justice. He earned his masters of science in criminal justice administration from UCM in 2014.
