Dr. Scott A. Maid is in his seventh season as a Mental Performance Coach with the OU softball program.
 
Dr. Maid is a Harrisonville, Mo. native. He attended Ottawa University (OU) from 1996 to 2000. Dr. Maid played baseball for two years for the Braves and was the athletic department mascot for four years. During his college years at OU, Dr. Maid was also a professional mascot for the Kansas City Blades Hockey Organization where he enjoyed entertaining crowds at various events and speaking publicly about remaining abstinent from drugs/alcohol and making healthy choices.
 
In his third year at OU, Dr. Maid was hired by Ottawa High School (OHS) as an assistant varsity baseball coach for their inaugural season.  Dr. Maid coached at OHS for two seasons before graduating from OU in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.
 
Dr. Maid went on to complete his masters in 2002 and his doctorate in 2004 in clinical psychology at the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in Springfield, Mo. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and at a community mental health center located in Garland, Texas. In 2005, Dr. Maid finished his post-doctorate studies at a private practice located in Harrison, Ark.
 
During his graduate studies, Dr. Maid continued being around the game of baseball by umpiring at the high school and collegiate levels.  He called games in four states and six different conferences from junior college to NCAA Division I.
 
In the fall of 2006, Dr. Maid moved back to the Harrisonville, Mo. area and continued umpiring at the high school and collegiate levels. In the spring of 2007, he was chosen to umpire at the Missouri State High School Baseball Tournament.  Dr. Maid went back to coaching, becoming an assistant for Harrisonville’s Post 42 American Legion baseball team in 2007. He would go on to start his own program the following summer, the South Kansas City Moose, which in 2009 became better known as the Post 42 Moose.
 
Dr. Maid was with the Moose from 2008-2013 where he focused heavily on player development.  In the fall of 2012, Dr. Maid was hired by Pleasant Hill High School (Pleasant Hill, Missouri) as their head baseball coach.  For the past decade now, the Roosters have been a powerhouse program on the diamond, consistently demonstrating prowess and securing their place among the state’s toughest programs at the Class 4 level.  Under the guidance of Dr. Maid, the Roosters have soared to new heights, achieving numerous accolades.  The Roosters have graced the top 10 rankings on five separate occasions, won four conference championships, three district titles, and broken over 30 individual and team records, setting new benchmarks for future generations. 
 
For 12 years, Dr. Maid owned a specialized private practice in Harrisonville, offering individual therapy, couple's therapy, family therapy, athletic mental performance, and law enforcement consultation. In January 2022, he embarked on a new journey, joining the Cass County Sheriff's Office full-time. Dr. Maid's passion extends beyond law enforcement, as he finds joy in working with athletic teams, athletes, leading psychoeducational groups, and delivering engaging presentations on various subjects within the realm of psychology. His expertise and dedication continue to make a profound impact on individuals, organizations, and the wider community.
