Coach McCarty is in her first season as a graduate assistant with the OU softball program

Before coming to OU, McCarty was an assistant coach at Novi High School in Novi, Mich. She managed pitching workouts and practices and developed pitchers for the NHS program.

McCarty was a four year letterman at the University of Detroit Mercy. As a senior, she hit .246 playing in 49 games for the Titans, starting 45. She scored nine runs, had five doubles, two homeruns, 17 RBI, a slugging percentage of .331, 15 walks, an on base percentage of .310 and a .942 fielding percentage. McCarty was also a pitcher for the Titans. As a sophomore she led the team with 146 innings pitched, 22 appearances in the circle, and seven complete games. Her first career was also Detroit's first of the 2011 season pitching a complete game five-hitter with just one run (unearned) with two walks and five strikeouts against Indiana State University. McCarty was named team captain as a senior, was a three-time National Fastpitch College Association Academic All-American, and a SAGE Award winner.

McCarty graduated in May of 2014 from the University of Detroit Mercy Magna Cum Laude with a degree in psychology. She is working on her masters in educational leadership at Ottawa University.
