Jayna Dunlap

Coach Dunlap is in her second season as head coach of the OU cheer and STUNT programs.

In her first season as head coach of the OU cheer team, Dunlap led the Braves to a third place finish at the NCA National Championships in the Advanced Small Coed NAIA Division. The Braves also finished fourth at the KCAC Championships. Under her leadership, four Braves earned All-KCAC honors: Makenzie Cortez (1st), Nolan Ingram (2nd), Carley Wagner (HM), and Hailey Spring-Clark (HM).

Dunlap comes to Ottawa with a track record of success wherever she goes. Most recently at Ladue Horton Watkins High School in St. Louis, Mo., Dunlap served as the Varsity Assistant Head Coach for the past two seasons. In that time, the program expanded by an impressive 60 percent as Dunlap worked to establish a culture built on teamwork and family as well as strong cheer fundamentals, skills, and crisp performance. In those two years, Ladue Cheer earned top honors at NCA (National Cheer Association) camps in back-to-back years, the first time earning top honors in the program's history while also seeing three cheerleaders receive All-American bids.

Prior to Ladue, Dunlap served as the varsity assistant head coach at Kirkwood High School in St. Louis, Mo., which was consistently recognized as one of the best programs in the area with its year-after-year successes at NCA camps. Dunlap also coached and helped facilitate two athletes to NCAA Division I cheer programs.

As an athlete, Dunlap was a varsity athlete all four years of high school and was a varsity captain for two years. She earned the Jennifer Lynn Cunningham award which recognizes excellence in cheer, spirit, and leadership, and earned an All-American bid at NCA camp as well.

Dunlap holds a degree in Exercise Science and Psychology from Maryville University. She also holds several certifications including a National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Level 3 coaching license and certifications in teaching and modeling behavior, sports nutrition, fundamentals in coaching, concussion in sports, coaching cheer and dance, engaging effectively with parents, and understanding copyright and compliance. Dunlap is also a licensed EMT (emergency medical technician).
