Coach Simpkins is in his second season as a graduate assistant coach with the OU women’s basketball program.
Before coming to Ottawa University, Simpkins was an assistant coach with the DMV Heat 11U AAU team. He facilitated skill development and worked on strength and conditioning with the players. Simpkins also implemented daily drills for improving shooting, dribbling, passing and game situations.
Simpkins also worked at the Will Barton Skills Academy, the Montclair State Basketball Camp, and the University of Maryland Overnight Camp.
Simpkins was a member of the Bridgewater College men’s basketball team from 2017 to 2020. He played guard and forward in one of the most competitive NCAA Division III conferences in the country (ODAC). Simpkins helped BC to its longest winning streak in the past decade. He was the recipient of the Iron Eagle, which is the Bridgewater College’s team award that is given to the player who exemplifies the highest level of hard work and consistency throughout the year.
While at Bridgewater College, Simpkins was a SAAC Representative. He helped organize and participated in meetings, food drives and other events for student-athletes to provide insight on the student-athlete experience as well as inform them on upcoming school wide and NCAA changes.
Simpkins graduated from Bridgewater College in May of 2021 with a bachelor of science in psychology. He is working on his masters in leadership from Ottawa University
