Coach Scott is in his first season as an assistant coach with the OU men's cross country program.

Before coming to Ottawa University, Scott spent the 2018-19 season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the track and cross country programs at Alderson Broaddus University (AB) in Philippi, W.V. During his year at AB, the track teams broke 12 school records and he coached one student athlete to an All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference honor. Scott earned his USATF Level-1 certification in cross country, distance, sprints, field events, and race walk in December of 2018.

Scott has been a coach, educator and administrator during the past 10 years. He began his coaching career in August 2009 at Aberdeen Christian School in Aberdeen, S.D., as the head cross country and track coach, starting both programs from the ground up. Scott has been an assistant coach for cross country and track at Ipswich Public School, head track coach at Wakpala Public School, and middle/long distance and hurdles coach at Mobridge-Pollock Public School, all in South Dakota.

Scott attended Northern State University (NSU), where he was a member of the NSU cross country and track teams. He was a NSIC (Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) cross country champion in 2004, earned runner up at the NSIC Indoor Championships in the 5000M in 2005, and was the NSIC Outdoor Champion in the 5000M and the 10000M in 2005. Scott was a nine-time All-NSIC selection, one of the largest NCAA II conferences in the country with 16 teams.

Scott graduated from NSU in May of 2008 with a bachelor of science degree in human performance and fitness. He minored in coaching with a  strength and conditioning specialization. Scott earned his masters of science degree in sports science and recreation from Ohio University in August of 2014.
