Coach Scruggs is in his first season as a graduate assistant coach with the OU men’s wrestling program.

Before coming to Ottawa Unversity, Scruggs was a four year letterwinner in wrestling for Campbellsville University. He was a four-time NAIA National Tournament qualifier and was named team captain in 2013. Scruggs earned 2012 Mid-South Conference Runner-up, was the 2012 Eastern Regional Champion at 184 pounds, was named a 2012 NAIA All-American and was runner-up in the 184 pound weight class, and was the 2013 Eastern Regional runner-up.

Scruggs was an assistant football coach at Valwood School, helping the 2013 football team to a state runner-up. He was also an assistant wrestling coach were he coached six region champions and had three wrestlers place in state.

In high school, Scruggs was a four year letterman in both football and wrestling. In wrestling he was a four-time regional finalist, was the team captain in 2008-09, twice was region champion, in 2008 he placed third at the Georgia 5A State Wrestling Tournament at 189 pounds, and was a Georgia 5A State Champion in 215 pounds in 2009.
