Coach Richards is in her first season as an assistant coach with the Ottawa University women's basketball program.
Richards comes to Ottawa University after serving as a graduate assistant for the University of Tulsa women’s basketball program, where she balanced the demands of graduate coursework with a wide range of team responsibilities. While at Tulsa, she stepped in as interim Director of Operations, coordinating community outreach initiatives, overseeing all travel logistics, and managing official recruiting visits. She also assisted in game preparation by compiling and analyzing scouting reports, identifying player tendencies, and supporting the coaching staff with administrative and operational needs.
In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Richards brings an impressive professional playing résumé. She competed internationally with the Saarlouis Royals (Germany), Adelitas de Chihuahua (Mexico), BBC Troistorrents-Chablais (Switzerland) and Montana BC (Bulgaria), excelling in high-level FIBA competition and adapting seamlessly to diverse cultures and languages.
Since 2020, she has also worked as a basketball skills trainer with ElevS Hoops in Tulsa, where she developed individualized training plans for more than 150 athletes, focusing on skill development, technique refinement, and personal growth on and off the court.
Richards enjoyed a standout career at the University of Tulsa, where she was a four-year letterwinner for the Golden Hurricane from 2016–20. Appearing in 104 career games with 22 starts, averaging 8.0 points and 2.9 rebounds in a starting role.
Off the court, Richards has experience in business operations, serving as Director of Operations for Paine & Associates Commercial Real Estate in Tulsa. In that role, she worked closely with executive leadership on strategic planning, project coordination, and data management.
Richards’ diverse background in coaching, professional athletics, player development, and operations will be a valuable asset as Ottawa University continues to build a competitive and dynamic women’s basketball program.
