Coach Hunter is in his first season as a graduate student assistant with the Ottawa University men’s basketball program.
Hunter is no stranger to the Braves, having served as a student assistant with the OU men’s basketball program during the 2025-26 season. In that role, he assisted with both the varsity and junior varsity programs. His responsibilities included on-court coaching, film study, recruiting visits, and equipment management.
Before joining the Ottawa coaching staff, Hunter served as a student assistant at Iowa Western Community College during the 2022-23 season. He assisted with practice setup and drills, practice scoring, and filming practices and games.
Hunter has also gained coaching experience with 816 Hoops, where he has worked as a program coach since 2023. He coached the organization’s middle school program during practices and games before being promoted to a travel coach. His responsibilities have included implementing offensive, defensive, and transition principles. Hunter also coached 15U and 17U Select teams in 2026. He began his coaching career as a volunteer coach at Wyandotte High School in 2022, assisting with on-court instruction and offensive concepts during summer practices.
Hunter earned his bachelor’s degree in sports leadership from Ottawa University in 2026. He attended Iowa Western Community College from 2022 to 2023, working toward an associate’s degree in business administration. He holds NABC PDS certification and a USA Basketball Gold Coaching License.
