Coach McGarry is in his first season as a graduate assistant with the OU Athletic Performance program.
A native of Eldred, N.Y., McGarry is a graduate of Fitchburg State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sports Science with a concentration in Strength & Conditioning. He was a four-year member of the Fitchburg State football team and graduated with honors, maintaining a 3.61 GPA. McGarry is also CSCS certified and CPR/AED certified through the American Heart Association.
McGarry brings valuable hands-on experience from internships at Duke University and Boston College. While working with Duke Football (January–July 2025), he coached mobility drills, return-to-play athletes, and incoming freshmen, while also utilizing advanced sports performance technology such as Nordbord, Force Plates, Perch, and Catapult metrics. His Boston College Football internship (Summer 2024) provided additional coaching experience in the weight room and on the field, with responsibilities that included training specialists, return-to-play athletes, and overseeing weight room operations.
At Fitchburg State, McGarry further developed his skills by assisting with team lifts and exercise stations under the guidance of Head Strength & Conditioning Coach David Jenkerson.
McGarry is working on his masters in athletic administration from Ottawa University.
