Michael Douglas

Douglas is in his second year as Assistant Director of Sports Information and Social Media Manager for Braves Athletics. In addition to his sports information role, he is the Braves Athletic Hall of Fame administrative liaison.

Douglas will continue to oversee, manage and create content for all of the Braves athletic department social media accounts which covered 484 varsity intercollegiate athletic contests in 2022-23. Additionally, he will be the primary point of contact for the men's and women's golf programs and OU's nationally ranked men's and women's wrestling teams.

Over the past three years, the OU Braves athletic department social media accounts have seen tremendous growth in followers and views including on Instagram, Twitter (X), and Facebook. The biggest impact has been seen with Instagram which jumped from 90 followers at the start of 2022 to now more than 2,190.

A credit to the collaborative hard work by the sports information staff and growth of teams and rosters, Braves Athletics led the NAIA in page views for the month of June as tracked by SIDEARM Sports, the leading digital fan engagement platform for the biggest brands in sports.

Douglas has been involved with the OU sports information office since 2019, spending two years as a student assistant, two years as a graduate assistant, and one year as a part time assistant.
Prior to this appointment, Douglas spent four years as the Director of Basketball Operations for the OU men's basketball team. His duties included advisement and tutoring of student-athletes, assisting at practices, supporting day-to-day operations in the office, and managing the social media pages for Braves hoops.

From 2016 to 2021, Douglas interned with the Baldwin City Blues of the Mid-Plains Collegiate Summer Baseball League. He handled all the statistics for the Blues games and received a promotion to become the Sports Information Director for the Baldwin City Blues. Douglas wrote press releases for the team after each home game and wrote a human interest story on Connor Morgan, a pitcher who pitched with Cerebral Palsy.

Douglas is from Wellsville, Kan. and has been involved with athletics for most of his life. Both of his parents, Michael and Lisa Douglas, are Ottawa University graduates. Michael graduated from Ottawa University Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sport studies. He received his Master of Arts in Leadership from OU in 2022.

Since 2014, Braves Athletics has grown from 14 intercollegiate athletic varsity programs with 278 student athletes to 33 varsity programs and more than 900 student athletes.
