DES MOINES, Iowa – The Ottawa University women's volleyball team earned its fifth straight sweep with a 3-0; 30-28, 25-19, 25-15; victory over (RV) Xavier University of Louisiana on Friday afternoon.
How it Happened
- Ottawa took a 6-3 lead to open set one against Xavier. A kill by Kaitlyn Haller and two Golden Nugget attacking errors gave the Braves a 13-5 lead. The Braves continued to hold their lead and after kill by Radaisy Valdez and Haylee O'Meara, OU had a 20-12 lead. Xavier then rallied, taking a 24-23 lead over the Braves. A Haller kill and a XU attacking error gave the Braves a 25-24 lead. The teams exchanged points and the set was tied 28-28. The Braves were able to retake the lead on a Haller kill, 29-28. Ottawa took the set on the next point, a Kennedi Wyrick service ace, 30-28.
- OU scored the first three points of set two. A bad set by the Golden Nuggets and a kill by Alexa Boyle pushed the Brave lead to 5-1. Xavier rallied, tying the set at 6-6. Ottawa retook the lead, pushing it to 11-8 on a block by Elli Rogers and Haller. The Golden Nuggets tied the set once again, this time at 13-13. Ottawa answered with four straight points, taking a 17-13 lead on a bad set by XU. Xavier was not able to rally and the Braves took the 25-19 victory.
- The Braves raced out to a 7-1 lead over the Golden Nuggets in set three. A block by Rogers and a Katelyn Elstun kill increased the OU lead to 10-2. OU held Xavier in check for the remainder of the set and OU took the 25-15 victory.

- The Braves finished the match with 40 kills, a .188 attacking percentage, 35 assists, five service aces, 64 digs, and eight team blocks.
- Kaitlyn Haller was one dig away from her third triple-double of the season. She did record her 22nd double-double, finishing with 12 kills and 13 assists.

- Kennedi Wyrick finished the match with two service aces. She also had 12 digs.
- Jadore Hayes had 15 digs and Alexa Boyle finished with 10 digs.

Ottawa (16-9, 5-0) returns to KCAC play on Saturday, Oct. 15 against Tabor College in Wilson Field House. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
