OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's volleyball team won its eighth straight match, defeating non-conference opponent Benedictine College 3-0; 25-8, 25-22, 25-18; on Tuesday night in Wilson Field House. OU served the ball well, finishing the match with 10 service aces.
How it Happened
- Ottawa dominated set one, taking a 7-1 lead on a block by Katelyn Elstun and Radaisy Valdez. The Braves held the Ravens to seven points for the remainder of the set, taking the 25-8 victory.
- In set two, it was Benedictine taking the early lead. Ottawa cut into the deficit and after a service ace by Haylee O'Meara, the set was tied 8-8. Benedictine retook the lead and had a 20-17 edge over the Braves. Ottawa then rallied, scoring five straight points to take a 22-20 lead. Benedictine scored the next two points to tie the set, 22-22. Ottawa responded by scoring the final three points of the set, taking the 25-22 victory.
- The Braves opened set three with an early lead. Alexa Boyle's service ace gave OU an 8-1 advantage of the Ravens. Kills by Valdez and O'Meara pushed the OU lead to 16-12. Two service aces by Kennedi Wyrick and a Boyle kill gave the Braves a 23-15 lead. Benedictine was not able to stage a comeback and the Braves took the 25-18 victory.
