OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's soccer team is on the road Wednesday, heading to Winfield, Kan. for a 6 p.m. matchup against the Southwestern Mound Builders.
The Braves are coming off three straight ties following a conference start that saw them win four of their first six KCAC games. Ottawa has only lost one of their last 11 games, but six of those resulted in ties.
The Braves played Friends to a scoreless 0-0 draw in their last match. Prior to the Friends match, Ottawa overcame a 2-0 halftime defecit against Bethel, scoring two goals in the second half to tie 2-2.
Reighna Werner scored her first goal of the season with a long range rocket from thirty yards out to get the Braves on the board.
Carolina Jennerwein scored her fourth goal of the season to get the Braves level in the 2-2 draw.
Braves' goalkeeper
Willow Good had two shutouts in the matches against York and Bethany two weeks ago. The performances earned Good KCAC Defensive Player of the Week. Another shutout against Friends lowered Good's goals against average to 1.21 per game, which ranks fourth in the KCAC.
The Builders were riding a seven game unbeaten run until they ran into No. 6 Oklahoma Wesleyan, finishing in a 6-0 loss to the Eagles in their last match. Hailey Rouse leads the Builders with nine goals this season, followed by Keiana Jones with six goals.
Ottawa owns a 13-4-1 series record over the Southwestern, but its the Builders who have had the advantage as of late by winning the last two matchups. Ottawa lost last year's matchup 1-0, after a late 84th minute gamewinner from the Builders.
