#RV Braves Take Over First in the KCAC, Down (RV) Oklahoma Wesleyan 3-2

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The Ottawa University women's volleyball team won its 10th straight match and snapped Oklahoma Wesleyan University's 24 match winning steak with a 3-2; 15-25, 25-22, 29-27, 21-25, 15-10; win on Saturday afternoon. OU is now in sole possession of first place in the KCAC with four conference matches remaining. Kaitlyn Haller recorded her third triple double of the season in the win.

How it Happened
  • OKWU scored the first four points of set one to take the early lead. Ottawa cut into the Eagle lead by scoring the next three points and were within 4-3 of the Eagles on a block by Lillian Holden, Kaitlyn Haller, and Radaisy Valdez. Ottawa continued to stay close and was able to take its first lead of the set, 10-9 on an OKWU attacking error. The Eagles answered by scoring the next three point, taking a 12-10 lead over the Braves. A bad set by OKWU and a kill from Alexa Boyle tied the set at 12-12. Ottawa was not able to get over the hump, only scoring three more points the rest of the set as OKWU took the 25-15 victory.
  • In set two, the Braves took a 4-2 lead over the Eagles on a block by Valdez and Katelyn Elstun. A service ace by Haylee O'Meara gave the Braves an 8-4 lead. The Braves continued to hold its lead increasing its to 19-12 after a Haller kill. OKWU tried to rally and cut OU's lead to 23-21. A Valdez kill gave the Braves a 24-21 lead. The Eagles scored the next point to get within 24-22. Ottawa took the set on the next point, a kill by Elstun, 25-22.
  • OU found itself down 8-4 to start set three. The Braves went on a 7-0 run, taking an 11-8 lead. OKWU rallied and retook the lead 16-14. Ottawa rallied, taking a 21-20 lead on a kill by Valdez. After an OKWU timeout, the Eagles tied the set 21-21. Ottawa retook the lead on a Valdez kill and extended it to 23-21 on a block by Valdez and Elstun. Oklahoma Wesleyan responded by scoring the next two points to tie the set 23-23. OU retook the lead on the next point, a Elstun kill, 24-23. The Eagles scored the next two points, taking a 25-24 lead. After a Brave timeout, Elstun tied the set, 25-25, on a kill. The teams exchanged points, and the set was tied at 27 all. Ottawa ended the set by scoring the final two points, a Rogers' kill (28-27) and a Haller kills (29-27).
  • Ottawa had an 8-4 lead over OKWU in set four after a block by Holden and Rogers. The Eagles rallied and took a 14-12 lead over the Braves. Ottawa answered, retaking the lead 18-17 on a Presley Crader service ace. Oklahoma Wesleyan responded with an 8-3 run to end the set, taking the 25-21 victory.
  • Ottawa scored the first two points of set five on kills by Boyle. OKWU answered with three straight points, taking a 3-2 lead over OU. Ottawa responded with six straight points and after two kills by Elstun, the Braves led 8-3. After the teams switched sides, OKWU scored the next point, cutting OU's lead to 8-4. Ottawa answered with two straight points on a Holden kill and a Elstun and Holden block to take a 10-4 lead. The Eagles rallied, scoring five straight points to cut OU's lead to 10-9. Ottawa responded by outscoring OKWU 5-1, taking the set 15-10.
