OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's basketball team opened the 2022-23 season by breaking the school record for most points scored in a game. The Braves exploded for 54 first half points, taking a 108-34 victory over Barclay College on Thursday night in Wilson Field House. The 54 first half points are the most scored by the Braves since Nov. 23, 2021 when OU scored 51 in an 81-57 victory over the University of Saint Mary in Wilson Field House. Ottawa raced out to a 14-1 lead over Barclay in the first six minutes of the opening quarter and never looked back, taking the 108-34 victory. The OU defense didn't allow more than 10 points scored in a quarter, taking its largest lead of 77 points with 1:04 to go in the fourth.
The Braves dominated the glass, out rebounding Barclay 69-27. OU had an 18-8 advantage in second chance points.
Nicole Brown finished her night with a double-double, scoring 13 points and pulling down 19 rebounds.
OU had a 38-2 lead in fast break points, a 22-12 advantage in points off turnovers, led 56-18 in points in the paint, and had a 66-13 lead in bench scoring.
