OTTAWA, Kan. -- The Ottawa University men's soccer team wraps up a two-game homestand this week, hosting the Bethany Swedes at AdventHealth Field on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The Braves started 5-0 in conference play before running into a tough matchup against the York Panthers that ended in a 1-1 draw in their last match. The Braves are still undefeated in conference play, leading the KCAC with a 5-0-1 conference record.
Ottawa owns a 5-4-2 record in the series history against the Swedes, winning five of the last six games against Bethany.
Jonathan Rawayo scored two goals in the Braves' 4-1 win over Bethany in last year's matchup.
Ottawa is led on offense by
Bence Molnar, the KCAC's leading goal scorer and the NAIA's fourth leading goal scorer with 12 goals, who also ranks second in the KCAC with seven assists.
Slobodan Novicevic has benefited playing alongside Molnar up front, ranking second in the KCAC in goals (11), fifth in assists (5) and second in points (27).
Alonso Basauri has also racked up six assists to rank fourth in the KCAC.
Novicevic recieved both NAIA & KCAC Offensive Player of the Week awards this past week, following four goals and an assist in wins over Tabor and Avila. He scored a game-winning penalty kick in the 3-2 win over Tabor, then followed with his first career hat-trick in a 4-1 win at Avila.
The Swedes are led up front by Josh Amador (five goals) and Joshua Momodu (four goals). Bethany's defense has allowed the second fewest goals per game in the KCAC, with their opponents scoring 1.58 goals per game.
