The Braves opened the 2022-23 season with a 108-34 victory over Barclay College in Wilson Field House last Thursday night. The 108 points scored by the Braves are the most in program history. OU also set a new school record in single game rebounds with 69 in the win.
In the win over Barclay, the Braves shot 59.2 percent from the floor, 44.4 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 76.2 percent from the free throw line.
Cierra Brown came off the bench to lead the Braves in scoring with 18 points.
Nicole Brown and
Hailey Henry finished the game with 13 points apiece,
Jayla Johnson scored 12 points off the bench, and
Amaya Marlatt finished the game with 10 points. Henry led OU with three steals.
Alyssa Guzman,
Janiyah Hendricks, Johnson, and Tiyani Rollins, finished with three assists apiece.
Nicole Brown's 19 rebounds in the win over Barclay tie her for seventh in single game rebounding. She was also named KCAC Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts in the win over Barclay.
Ottawa is shooting .592 percent from the floor, .444 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and .762 from the free throw line. The Braves are averaging 108 points per game, 69 rebounds per game, and 25 assists per game.
OU is ranked first in the NAIA in points per game (108), first in field goals made per game (42), fourth in field goal percentage (.592), 32nd in 3-pt field goals made per game (8), eighth in 3-pt field goal percentage (.444), 34th in free throws made per game (16), 25th in free throw percentage (.762), first in defensive rebounds per game (55), first in total rebounds per game (69), third in assists per game (25), fifth in points allowed per game (34), second in opponents field goal percentage (.179), and fifth in opponent 3-pt field goal percentage (.080).

This is the fourth meeting between Ottawa University and Midland University. The Warriors lead the series, 3-0. MU won the last meeting on Nov. 12, 2016 in Ottawa, 64-58. The first time the two teams met was on Nov. 21, 1992 in Fremont, Neb. Midland won the game 94-91.
Saturday's game is the third meeting between Ottawa and Hastings College. The Broncos lead the series, 2-0. The teams met last season in Wilson Field Hose on Nov. 9. Hastings won the game 74-69. The first meeting between the two teams happened on Nov. 10, 2017. HC won the game 71-39.
Midland University is 0-2 to start the 2022-23 season with losses to Bellevue University on Oct. 28, 87-61, and Dickinson State on Oct. 29, 63-51. In the loss to Dickinson State, the Warriors shot 27 percent from the floor, 28 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 58.8 percent from the free throw line. Emma Shepard and Erin Prusa finished the game with 12 points apiece.
The Warriors were picked to finish 11th in the GPAC in the 2022-23 Preseason Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll.
Midland is shooting .323 percent from the floor, .271 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 59.4 percent from the free throw line. The team is averaging 56 points, 36 rebounds, and 10.5 assists per game.
Erin Prusa leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 17.5 points and six rebounds per game. Lexi Kraft is MU's leader in assists (2) and steals (1.5) per game.
Midland is ranked 46th in the NAIA in 3-pt field goals attempted per game (24) and 23rd in turnovers per game (12.5).
Hastings College opens the 2022-23 season on Friday against Oklahoma Panhandle State University. The Broncos were picked to finish eighth in the GPAC 2022-23 Preseason Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll.
Hastings finished the 2021-22 season with an overall record of 15-14 and a GPAC record of 11-11. The Broncos tied for seventh in the conference with the University of Jamestown.
