WICHITA, Kan. – The (25) Ottawa University women's volleyball team earned its 10
th KCAC Championship, third straight, with a 3-0; 25-23, 25-18, 25-17; win over Friends University on Saturday evening at the Garvey Center. Ottawa only dropped two sets in KCAC play this season, winning 11 of its 12 matches in KCAC play, 3-0.
How it Happened
- Friends opened set one with a 5-3 lead over the Braves. Ottawa chipped away at the Falcon lead and after a Friends ball handling error, OU led 10-8. Kills by Kaitlyn Haller and Haylee O'Meara pushed the OU lead to 12-9. Friends rallied, going on a 5-1 run to take a 14-13 lead over the Braves. Ottawa tied the set on the next point, 14-14. The Falcons retook the lead on an OU service error, 15-14. OU scored the next two points, kills by Katelyn Elstun and Haller, to take a 16-15 lead. Friends responded by scoring four straight points to take a 19-16 lead over the Braves, leading to an OU time out. The Braves then rallied, going on a run of their own and taking a 23-22 lead over the Falcons. After the Friends' time out, Ottawa extended its lead to 24-22 on an O'Meara kill. Friends scored the next point, cutting OU's lead to 24-23. The Braves ended the set on the next point, a Falcon attacking error, 25-23.
- Friends opened set two with a 4-1 lead over the Braves. Ottawa rallied, tying the set at 4-4 on an attacking error. The Falcons scored the next two points, taking a 6-4 lead over the Braves. Ottawa tied the set on back-to-back Falcon miscues, 6-6. Friends retook the lead with two straight points of their own, 8-6. The teams exchanged points and Friends had a 15-13 lead. Ottawa answered by scoring seven straight points, taking a 20-15 lead over the Falcons. Friends was not able to recover from that OU run and the Braves took the 25-18 victory.
- The Falcons took a 3-1 lead over the Braves to start set three. Ottawa scored the next three points, taking 4-3 lead over Friends on an O'Meara kill. Kills by Radaisy Valdez and O'Meara and a bad set by the Falcons gave OU an 8-4 lead. After the Friends' timeout, the Falcons scored the next three point to cut OU's lead to 8-7. The Braves increased their lead to 12-8 over Friends. The Falcons were not able to rally again and OU took the 25-17 victory.

- Ottawa finished the match with 40 kills a .194 attacking percentage, 37 assists, six service aces, 65 digs, and six team blocks.
- Kaitlyn Haller finished the game with a double-double. She had 14 kills and 15 assists.
- Haylee O'Meara had a double-double as well, 18 assists and 10 digs.
- Both OU setters were one stat away from triple-doubles. O'Meara finished with nine kills and Haller had nine digs.
- Jadore Hayes led the Braves with 18 digs, and Elli Rogers finished with three blocks.

Ottawa (24-9) will now play the winner of the match between Avila University and Southwestern College on Friday, Nov. 11 at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. The KCAC Tournament quarterfinals match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
