BAHOF Announces Its 2023 Induction Class

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Braves Athletic Hall of Fame (BAHOF) is pleased to announce its 2023 induction class. They are Clarence Anderson, Donald Anderson, Molli (Morgan) Pierce, and Matt Cline. The new members will be honored at the BAHOF Induction Banquet on Thursday, October 19, 2023, as part of the annual Homecoming festivities.

 

Clarence Anderson is one of the most decorated athletes to ever wear the black and gold. He was a four-year letterwinner in football and track. On the football field (2008-2011), Anderson finished his four-year career with 279 receptions for 4,329 yards and 49 touchdowns. He averaged 15.5 yards per reception, 7.2 receptions per game, and 111 yards receiving per game. Anderson had 6,799 all-purpose yards (73 rushing, 4,329 receiving, 635 punt returns, 343 kick returns). He averaged 174.3 all-purpose yards per game. 

 

Anderson is in the top 10 in the OU record book for 24 school records. He was the first Brave to have three straight seasons of 1,000 yards receiving, was a three-time First Team All-KCAC selection at receiver, a two-time AFCA First Team All-American, was twice named a Sporting News Preseason NAIA All-American, was a Consensus Draft Services (CDS) Preseason NAIA All-American and was named a DII vs. NAIA Senior Bowl Preseason NAIA All-American.

 

Anderson helped the Braves to two KCAC Championships (2009, 2011), a NAIA Football Championship Series victory in 2009, and three NAIA Football Championship Series appearances (2009, 2010, 2011).

 

On the track (2009-2012), Anderson holds three indoor track school records and four outdoor school records. He was a NAIA Outdoor Track and Field All-American in 2012 in the 4x100M Relay and the 200M. Anderson was a 10-time All-KCAC performer and a nine-time KCAC Champion in outdoor track. He was a two-time All-KCAC performer and a two-time KCAC Champion in indoor track.

 

Anderson graduated in 2016 with a degree in sports studies. He is now an assistant coach with the William Jewell College football program.

 

Donald Anderson was a four-year letterwinner on the football field for the Braves from 2009 to 2012. He played receiver his first two seasons before moving over to defensive back as a junior. Anderson was part of the 2009, 2011, and 2012 KCAC Championship Teams and NAIA Football Championship Series teams. He helped the Braves capture the program's first win in the NAIA Football Championship Series in 2009.

 

Anderson finished his four-year career with 117 tackles (73 solo, 44 assisted), 4 TFL, 42 pass breakups, 17 interceptions, and 4 interceptions returned for a touchdown. He is ranked in the top 10 in the OU record book in seven statistical categories.

 

Anderson was a two-time First Team All-KCAC selection, was named NAIA Special Teams and Defensive Player of the Week, was an AFCA NAIA First Team All-American, and was named BSN NAIA Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-American.

 

Anderson graduated in 2013 with a degree in exercise science. He earned his MBA in leadership development from OU in 2016 and is now the Dean of Student Life and Services at Ottawa University.

 

Pierce was a four-year letterwinner on the pitcher's mound for the OU softball team from 2014 to 2017. She was a 2017 NAIA Second Team All-American and three times was named All-KCAC, earning First Team honors in 2017. Pierce was named the 2017 KCAC Pitcher of the Year.

 

She appeared in 128 games, making 104 starts on the pitcher's mound. Pierce pitched 57 complete games, recorded 12 shutouts, had a record of 61-40, pitched in 659.1 innings, had a 2.88 ERA, and struck out 405.

 

Pierce is in the top 10 in the OU career record book in seven categories and in the top 10 in the OU single season record book in six categories.

 

Pierce graduated from Ottawa in 2017 with a degree in exercise science. She is now a merchandising assistant at Scoular.

 

Cline was a member of the OU football team from 1990 to 1993. He was a four-time All-KCAC performer, twice being named First Team All-KCAC in 1992 and 1993. Cline was a two-time NAIA Honorable Mention All-American selection in 1992 and 1993.

 

Cline holds the school record for career sacks (39.5) and is ranked in the top 10 in the OU single season record books in pass break ups (8) and sacks with 18 in 1992 and 14 in 1993. Cline holds the school record for single game sacks with four.

 

As a senior, Cline had 64 tackles, one recovered fumble, one interception, a blocked kick, eight pass break ups, and 14 sacks.

 

Cline graduated from Ottawa in 1995 with a degree in human services. He was a teacher and football coach from 1998 to 2000. Since 2000, Cline has been the owner of Teacher's Irrigation.
