Bowling Heads to Vegas for Two Tier-One Tournaments

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Ottawa University men and women's varsity bowling teams travel to Las Vegas to for two Tier-One tournaments this weekend.  

Ottawa will start with the Glen Carlson Invitational on Sunday & Monday (Dec. 18th & 19th), and wrap up with the Collegiate Shootout on Tuesday & Wednesday (Dec. 20th &21st). Both tournaments are being held at the South Point Hotel & Casino. There will approximately 50 men's teams and 30 women's teams competing at both tournaments, ranging from the NAIA to NCAA DI.

Last Time Out in Vegas
The OU men's team finished 20th in a field of 42 difficult opponents at last year's Glenn Carlson Invite, and 26th out of 42 in the Collegiate Shootout. The women's side finished 17th out of 31 teams at the Glenn Carlson, then improved to an 11th place finish out of 32 teams at the Collegiate Shootout.

Last Time Out for OU
Both teams took first-place on power points just about a month ago at the Spartan Clash hosted by Missouri Baptist. The OU women's team led the field with a 17-2 record en route to their first-place finish. The Braves had a total pin count of 6941, averaging a 178 score throughout the 19 baker games. The ladies had a winning percentage of almost 90% over the weekend. The men's side went 14-5 at the tournament, good enough for the highest total pin count and power points. The Braves won close to 75% of their games, with a total pin count of 7294 for a 187 game average.

National Rankings
The Ottawa University men and women's bowling teams were ranked seventh and fifth respectively in the NAIA RPI Poll released by the national office this afternoon. 

The women's ranking is the highest ever in program history. The Lady Braves have been terrific in match play this season, currently with a 35-5 record through four tournaments so far. The men's side ranks seventh in the latest RPI Standings. The Braves are 34-6 so far this season in four tournaments played.
